As America celebrates her 250th birthday, we want to pause and thank the residents of Nassau County who continue to stand up for what they believe in.
Especially those who are fighting to conserve the beautiful way of life we are blessed to enjoy here locally.
The 250th anniversary of our country is a time to reflect on our Founders — ordinary people who became extraordinary because they were willing to stand for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They did not wait for permission. They did not shrink back because the odds were against them. They saw wrongs, stood for right, and carved out a story that changed the world.
And to those standing today in Nassau County — speaking up, showing up, asking questions, challenging tone-deaf government, and refusing to let this community become something the people never asked for — we say thank you.
One day, your names may be remembered too. Not because you sought attention, but because you cared enough to fight for the place you love.
As David McCullough, one of America’s great historians, once said, “History is about people. History is human.”
That is what we celebrate this Fourth of July. Human beings who stood up. Human beings who sacrificed. Human beings who refused to surrender the blessings of liberty.
And here at home, we celebrate our local friends and neighbors who are writing their own chapter of history right now.
Your work is not done. Your story is not finished. But on this 250th birthday of America, we encourage you to take a break. Watch the fireworks. Spend time with your family and friends. Pray for America. Play music that lifts your spirit and reminds you why this country is worth loving. Enjoy the blessings of liberty.
Then come back refreshed and ready.
Because protecting a community is not easy. Preserving freedom is not easy. Standing up to government that refuses to listen is not easy.
But it is worth it.
Please take a moment to watch this short video from David McCullough and be reminded that history was never simple, and neither were the times our Founders lived through.
America has faced hard seasons before. We have been tested before. And we have made it through before. We always do.
So go enjoy the Fourth. Celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Hug your loved ones. Thank God for this country.
And we’ll see you back on the battleground where your story will be written with the headline “He or She fought to keep the soul of Nassau County strong, beautiful and free.”
God bless you all.
