Mills, Bean, Donalds Introduce Bill Codifying DOGE Into Law

March 20, 2025

Press Release

WASHINGTON—Today, founder and co-chair of the Congressional DOGE Caucus U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) and U.S. Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07) introduced H.R. 2006, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Act. This historic legislation will cement the creation and implementation of President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency into federal law.

Upon introduction, Congressman Bean said: “DOGE’s mission is to improve government efficiency and to stop the abuse of taxpayer dollars—and it’s doing just that. As co-chair of the House DOGE Caucus, I am proud to join Congressman Mills in introducing the DOGE Act to codify President Trump’s executive order into law. The American people overwhelmingly support ending waste, fraud, and abuse, and we are working to restore accountability to the American public.”

“According to the agency themselves, DOGE has already achieved over $115 billion in savings, which amounts to more than $700 in savings per taxpayer. They are rooting out waste and fraud, including the cancellation of 104 DEI contracts, saving the government more than $1 billion. One of my favorite finds, was when DOGE identified that the Biden administration spent $8 million performing transgender experiments on mice. This is the type of wasteful spending that the American taxpayer deserves transparency on,” said Congressman Mills

Cosigners of the bill include Representatives: Byron Donalds (FL-19), Barry Moore (AL-01), Michael Rulli (OH-06), Victoria Spartz (IN-05), Darrell Issa (CA-48), and Mary Miller (IL-15).

BACKGROUND

Executive Order 14158 established the Department of Government Efficiency by renaming the United States Digital Service (USDS) as the United States DOGE Service (USDS). It also created the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization to promote efficiency goals in the first 18 months but will terminate itself on July 4, 2026.

The DOGE Act seeks to codify DOGE, allowing the President to focus on government efficiency and implementing modernized government-wide software. Under the bill, the head of each federal agency will be required to form a dedicated team that will collaborate with DOGE to ensure the successful implementation of initiatives designed to maximize federal government productivity.
